...Remembering to laugh a little...

in writing this post, I feel like I've been floating along at torpedo-speed and have somehow managed to grab hold of a window-sill somewhere to poke my head in for a breather! Things have been hectic lately, or at least been feeling pretty hectic lately. Monday this week feels like it happened aeons past and I can't believe tomorrow's actually Friday i.e. my frazzled brain's heralding my much-welcomed weekend as I type! I suppose it's because I've been trying to squeeze in more work and prep lately. It's the 9th week of my Surgical run and you (well, I and the rest of my med buddies do anyway;D) know what that means! The 10th and last (say it with me ladies and gents!=D) week is upon us! Next thing you know, it'll be assessments over and I'll be indulging in the activity that is the bane of my life (read: packing - although, just packing for a trip - albeit a looong one=D - is not as bad as packing to move...) and catching that long-awaited flight back home! So, yeah, this post is just a break I've decided to squeeze in between bouts of prep for tomorrow's tut, to focus on more random rambling;)

So you all probably know by now that Google has bought YouTube but did you know that apparently, dressing extra-hot is an indicator for human ovulation?! Well, that's what some U.S. researchers have surmised anyhow. Human ovulation, they say, is one of the more difficult things to identify, even by humans themselves. (Apparently, we flirt more, look at attractive males more.) Theoretically, we know that it happens halfway through the menstrual cycle, at about the 14th day. But to know for sure has eluded the human population, as attested by the bewildered couples who struggle to conceive, and the bewildered prospective moms and dads with unplanned buns on their way. But the results of this study are suggesting that, joining the ranks of some animals releasing particular powerful scents, others displaying skin colour changes, and others still sounding out their mating calls (ok, I added that, but it's true right?;D Anyway, you get the piccie), human females parade the results of their heightened sense of fashion.


No mistake about it though, it's a subtle process... Rather than piling on the bling, it's all about the heightened sense of fashion. There's no arbitrary standard of dress. Each woman maintains her personal sense of style, but cue ovulation, adds a pretty necklace here, a hot skirt there... Formal testing of ovulation correlates with the subjective id of a more fashionable attire. So it's not the outcropping of bloated-wear as they might expect, but the opposite. Going on a different facet of anatomy, let's talk about the variety going by the name of "Grey's" (Ep 04 otw guys;D). Apparently, Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey came to blows on set! Well, sort of. Here's the goss: Tensions mounted while the boys were on location last week shooting a camping sequence. By the time the crew returned to LA, something was apparently bothering the actors enough to lead to unrest on the set. Apparently, Washington was prepared to shoot a particular scene on Monday and was annoyed his fellow cast mates weren't equally ready so passing forth from his lips came a nasty remark to T.R. Knight. Dempsey stepped in on Knight's behalf (McDreamy in shining scrubs!=D). Washington then supposedly grabbed Dempsey by the throat and shoved him, all rowdy style. Washington told People Wednesday that no punches were actually thrown. Wisely, ABC has remained mum on the subject. However, it seems that all is well now, if only on the surface.

Quote: "E! Online's source said that Washington and Dempsey both met with the big cheese, executive producer Shonda Rhimes, and proceeded to metaphorically hug it out. "There was an argument on set," a rep for Dempsey said. "In any close-knit family, sometimes people argue. But everybody made up and went back to work." Washington's publicist echoed the sentiment, saying in a statement to E! News: "Differences are inevitable. They were aired, resolved, and everyone has moved on." With their bizarrely good looks intact, luckily. And as for those outdoorsy scenes that the gentlemen were filming last week, Dempsey told E! Online Sunday (the day before the "incident") that it was good being away with the guys and nice to not have to shave for awhile. "We have a good time together," the actor, whose wife is expecting the couple's second child, said. "We bonded a little bit, in a good way."" So there you have it! Tsk, boyyysss~~~ Re-enacting a little on-screen tension there?
